UADAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), the authority issuing Aadhar card and providing related services, has clarified that all the 3 formats of Aadhar card will be considered valid. According to UIDAI, ordinary Aadhaar card or PVC Aadhaar card will be considered valid. Citizens are not necessarily required to convert one format of Aadhaar card to another.

    UIDAI offers Aadhaar card reprinting on PVC

    UADAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), the authority issuing Aadhaar card and providing related services, has clarified that all the 3 formats of Aadhaar card will be considered valid. According to UIDAI, Ordinary Aadhaar Card or PVC Aadhaar Card will be considered valid. Citizens are not necessarily required to convert one format of Aadhaar card to another.


    The Aadhaar card comes in 3 formats
    Currently, there are three types of Aadhaar card formats: Aadhaar Letter, e-Aadhaar and PVC. The PVC card has been launched recently. According to UIDAI, all the three formats of Aadhaar card will be considered valid. Citizens will be able to choose the format according to their convenience. So don't pay attention to any rumor that PVC card is more valid than other 2 format Aadhaar cards or e-Aadhaar is no longer valid.

    UIDAI recently launched the PVC card facility
    UIDAI recently introduced the facility of reprinting on PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride Card). That card will fit in your pocket as easily as an ATM or debit card. It won't get worse anytime soon. You will have to pay Rs 50 to make this card.

    This is how a PVC Aadhaar card can be obtained
    1. First visit https://uidai.gov.in or https://resident.uidai.gov.in.
    2. Click on ‘Order Aadhaar Card’ service.
    3. Submit your 10 digit UID or 16 digit Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28 enrolled ID.
    4. Note the security code or captcha code.
    5. Select the option of registered number to get OTP. If mobile number is not registered then submit it if optional number is available.
    6. Click ‘Send OTP’.
    7. Tick ‘Terms and Conditions’ after approval. (Note: Click on the hyperlink and see the details)
    8. After completing the ‘OTP’ verification process, click Submit.
    9. After clicking on ‘Make payment’, you will reach the payment gateway, where you will get the option of Credit / Debit Card, Net Banking and UPI.
    10. Receipt of successful payment will be received, it will have digital signature on it. You will get the service request number on SMS. You can use this number to track the process until the card is delivered.

    125 crore people in the country have Aadhaar card
    According to figures released by UADAI in December 2019, 125 crore citizens living in the country have created Aadhaar cards. The Aadhaar project was launched in the country in 2010.
